The Arcade of Vases
Pure Hereke silk, framed in midnight blue
A procession of arches, each sheltering a vase in bloom, held within a dark navy floral border. Red, saffron, rose and leaf green are dyed from plant roots and knotted in pure silk, so the piece glows as the light moves across it. Our most ambitious Hereke piece.

Imagine a palace corridor above the Sea of Marmara, a row of niches each holding a single vessel of flowers, each lit by its own small flame. That is the feeling of this rug. Beneath every arch a vase stands in quiet devotion, and the midnight border closes around them like the dark beyond the lamplight. The colours came from roots and leaves, steeped and waited on with a patience modern life has forgotten. It is a piece for the hour after dinner, when conversation slows and the silk begins to glow.
What it is made of
A rug is only as noble as its fibre. We treat our materials the way a tailoring house treats cashmere: sourced with care, handled by hand, never hurried.
